MIMIC
Everyone gets the same secret word. One of you doesn't.
Pass the phone around the table. Each player holds the card and reads their word in private — except one, who gets something else entirely. Then you go around saying a single word each. Too vague and you look guilty. Too specific and you hand the game to the impostor.
When the talking runs out, everyone votes in secret. Then the truth comes out.
Three ways to be the impostor
Swap — one player gets a different word and has no idea they are the impostor. Watching someone defend themselves with total confidence and zero self-awareness is the best thing this game does.
Blind — the impostor knows exactly what they are and only sees the category. Now they are acting, and they are sweating.
Mission — Blind, plus a secret objective. Getting away with it is no longer enough.
Or set it to Shuffle and let the game decide each round, so nobody knows whether the impostor even knows.
The dossier
Turn it on and everyone answers a handful of harmless yes-or-no questions before the game starts. Each round the game reveals one true fact about the impostor — the impostor cannot swim — and tells you how many people at the table it fits.
Lying about yourself is now part of the game. So is catching someone who does.
What else is in there
- Say your clue out loud or type it in — you choose, every single turn
- Anonymous mode hides who wrote what, so half the argument becomes guessing the author
- Optional clue timer, from 5 to 30 seconds, for tables that overthink
- Ten word packs, plus your own — add your inside jokes, your coworkers, whatever you want
- Scoring built to start arguments: a clean escape pays well, a messy one pays almost nothing, and being right always pays something even when nobody believes you
3–6 players · one device · about 15 minutes · nothing to install
Free to play in your browser. If it earns a spot at your table, a tip helps me build the next one.
